In August 2020, L.E. Myers, Sturgeon Electric, Harlan Electric, and High Country crews responded to those in need after a powerful derecho (a long-lived, straight-line windstorm that can pack hurricane- or tornado-strength winds) swept across five states in the midwestern United States. The derecho caused severe damage and widespread utility disruptions.
Cedar Rapids and eastern Iowa were hit the hardest, suffering a near-complete blackout and severe property and crop damage. ͵ÅÄ×ÔÅÄ Group subsidiary crews mobilized immediately and worked quickly and safely around the clock to restore electricity to the client’s affected customers, clearing rights of way and rebuilding transmission lines.
